J. Rana, DVM, MVSc
Practice Owner and Veterinarian
Dr. Rana graduated from the Veterinary College in 1989 and he completed his Masters in Veterinary Pathology in 1991. He worked in the Veterinary College in teaching and research positions for 3 years before he decided to work in a private veterinary practice. In 1997, he completed his clinical internship at prestigious Purdue University in U.S.A. and then moved back to beautiful British Columbia. He worked for some time at Granville Island Veterinary Hospital and Vetcetera Hospital in Vancouver before moving to Lansdowne Animal Hospital in Oct. 1998. He has owned this practice since 2000.
Dr. Rana loves all kind of pets. Actually, Dr. Rana decided to become a veterinarian in high school when he saw his own dog being treated by a veterinarian at a teaching veterinary hospital. Although he lost his dog at that time due to a serious illness (Parvo virus), he decided to save many others by becoming a veterinarian. He has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, dermatology and clinical pathology.
His hobbies are sports, listening to music and travelling. In his spare time, he also likes reading veterinary journal articles to keep himself up to date with latest developments in veterinary medicine.

He finished his graduate diploma in clinical studies at the Ontario Veterinary College, Guelph in 1998. After working for a multi-doctor practice in Washington State in the U.S.A. for a short period of time, he moved to Vancouver. He has been working with us for over 10 years.
Veterinary Office Assistant
Hannah graduated with her Veterinary Office Assistant Diploma from the Granville Business College in March 2015. She did her practicum with us and she’s been working with us ever since. She is currently taking a Grooming program and when she has her certificate, she plans to groom dogs and cats as a hobby on the side. In the future, she would like to go back to school and become an Animal Health Technician. Hannah also likes to play and cuddle with her cat Bella during her free time.
Sarah was born and raised in beautiful Nova Scotia. Her passion for animals started at a young age as she grew up on a farm. Sarah has a 2 year old Golden Retriever and a 3 year old cat that keep her busy at home. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and going on new adventures with her pup. Sarah attended post-secondary schooling and obtained her law enforcement diploma. Sarah takes great pride in caring for others. Though one of her goals was to join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Sarah has decided to follow her second career path and passion, to work with animals. She joined Lansdowne Animal Hospital in March 2017 and she became a valuable member of our team very quickly.
"Dragon" - Our Cat Angel in Kitty Heaven (1997-2017)
Dragon was a 20.5 years old very handsome cat. Dragon had been with us since 1998. He was a rescue cat through Richmond Homeless Cats Shelter. (Presently known as Richmond Animal Protection Society). He was a celebrity in his own right. Clients often stopped by just to be greeted and Dragon never disappointed his adoring fans! Sadly, we had to say goodbye to him in summer of 2017 after a long, happy life. He was the best cat ever. He will be always remembered and will remain a part of our hospital.
