J. Rana, DVM, MVSc
Practice Owner and Veterinarian
Dr. Rana graduated from the Veterinary College in 1989 and he completed his Masters in Veterinary Pathology in 1991. He worked in the Veterinary College in teaching and research positions for 3 years before he decided to work in a private veterinary practice. In 1997, he completed his clinical internship at prestigious Purdue University in the U.S.A. and then moved back to beautiful British Columbia. He worked for some time at Granville Island Veterinary Hospital and Vetcetera Pet Hospital in Vancouver before moving to Lansdowne Animal Hospital in October 1998. He has owned this practice since 2000.
Dr. Rana loves all kind of pets. Actually, Dr. Rana decided to become a veterinarian in high school when he saw his own dog being treated by a veterinarian at a teaching veterinary hospital. Although he lost his dog at that time due to a serious illness (Parvovirus), he decided to save many others by becoming a veterinarian. He has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, dermatology and clinical pathology.
His hobbies are sports, listening to music and travelling. In his spare time, he also likes reading veterinary journal articles to keep himself up to date with the latest developments in veterinary medicine.

Adelaide
Veterinary Assistant
Adelaide joined the Lansdowne Animal Hospital team in October 2022. She has immense interest in working with animals. Adelaide has spent many years volunteering in animal rescue centers and worked in different zoos, aquariums and animal hospitals after graduation. She misses her family dog that she grew up with.
Andy
Registered Veterinary Technologist
Andy joined the Lansdowne Animal Hospital team on a consistent basis in the later half of 2022. His first encounter with Dr Rana and his wonderful staff was back in 2018 for a summer job when he was still a tech student in Thompson River's Animal Health Technology program. His exposure into the animal world however, begins in 2013 where he graduated from UBC's Wildlife Ecology and Management program and worked at a Animal Refuge and Clinic in Sudbury, Ontario. In his free time, Andy enjoys playing with his cat named Thomas that he adopted at the TRU program, watching and playing hockey, and discovering new restaurants and music.
"Dragon" - Our Cat Angel in Kitty Heaven (1997-2017)
Dragon was a 20.5 years old very handsome cat. Dragon had been with us since 1998. He was a rescue cat through Richmond Homeless Cats Shelter (presently known as Richmond Animal Protection Society). He was a celebrity in his own right. Clients often stopped by just to be greeted and Dragon never disappointed his adoring fans! Sadly, we had to say goodbye to him in summer of 2017 after a long, happy life. He was the best cat ever. He will be always remembered and will remain a part of our hospital.
